Reflexology Specialist - My Number One Therapy
Offering care, support and encouragement are at the heart of my work as a reflexology therapist, but in truth, I offer much more because I am a reflexology specialist.
What I mean by that is, reflexology is my number one therapy. I am not a massage therapist, ear-candler or quantum leaper.
The latest therapy with a new-sounding name is not quite for me either.
I simply love reflexology. It’s a very versatile and beneficial therapy and I prefer to upskill in the latest developments of the therapy based on meticulous case studies and scientific research.
My reflexology teachers are:
- Alison Kavanagh (Holistic College Dublin, Ireland),
- Hanne Marquardt (Pioneer of Reflexology)
- Carol Donnolly (Reflexology Cancer Case Studies)
- Pauline O’Hagan (Maternity Reflexology Expert)
- Dr. Carol Samuel (Nerve Reflexology for Pain)
In addition my teacher Alison Kavanagh, studied reflexology with Dwight Byers, the nephew of Eunice Ingam (Mother of modern day Reflexology). Alison is still my teacher because from time to time we attend the same reflexology upskiling course and I have the benefit of learning further from her continuous practice.
Reflexology specialists are always keen to learn from their own practice too. My practice has developed over the last few years with regards to my observation and treatment of clients.
I did actually complete Reiki Master initiations some years prior to qualifying as a reflexology therapist but at that time I was not intent on being a professional therapist. I simply had a curiousity in Reiki as I knew I had a sensitivity to energy and I wanted to understand how to manage that better mostly to facilitate my own healing.
While I do not put reiki to the fore of my therapy business, I am quite aware of energy when providing reflexology treatments. People who had the opportunity to watch me practice openly at events such as Mind Body Spirit (Ireland), have even commented on the spiritual healing aspect of my treatment.
For me it’s simply about being aware and present during each treatment. Every person is uniquely different and therefore every reflexology treatment must be uniquely different.
I only see and feel what is presented to me through a persons demeanour, their response and sensations of the feet during treatment.
I am member of the Irish Reflexologists’ Institute Ltd. (I.R.I.L.), a professional membership body who provide regulatory guidelines for practice and qualifications with regards to reflexology in Ireland.
My I.R.I.L. membership has added benefit for my clients as it means Health Insurers will redeem costs of treatment, once clients have the correct level of health insurance cover .
My therapy practice is mainly in Ireland (Carlow/Dublin 2) with ocassional clinics in Portugal (Algarve) – LOCATIONS
