Long before I trained in reflexology, I became aware of the balancing effects of this natural therapy. I was lucky to find a very astute therapist who provided a secure, serene space.
Here I could succumb to the effects of varying pressure on reflex points on my feet, which melted away the tensions I was holding in other parts of my body. At the end of each session I would float out the door, the calamities of my day forgotten or at least softened and a lighter feeling in my feet.
Reflexology is performed mainly on the feet and when you consider the amount of nerve endings in these body parts you may get an understanding of why the effects are so beneficial. The sole of your foot has up to 200,000 nerve endings, a particularly high concentration compared to other body parts.
"Letting go of old ways and making big life decisions during these periods of transition, left me feeling quite unsteady at times. I was in danger of triggering past anxieties, accumulating tension upon tension."
I was someone with a goal. I wanted to change my ways to be more positive, to embrace new experiences and to find happiness by doing the things I love.
Letting go of old ways and making big life decisions during these periods of transition, left me feeling quite unsteady at times. I was in danger of triggering past anxieties, accumulating tension upon tension.
"Reflexology became my go-to therapy as soon as I recognised that I was entering these phases of transition."
Now as a therapist, it gives me great satisfaction to assist my own clients in their transitioning. Some are dealing with illness or desiring to start a family or climbing in their career, some are entering a new stage in life and simply want to maintain good health and energy. I have even had people who came because they wanted to kick-start their running programme!
Whatever the reason you have for choosing reflexology, it is most likely that you will find that which is beneficial to your goal. Making time for yourself is vital in this age of hustle and bustle.
I provide a bespoke reflexology wellness service for clients in Carlow, Dublin and some parts of the south-east of Ireland.
