Any tips for an Eco Rider?
Life is an adventure right? And my idea of adventure could be tame compared to that of another or vice versa. Well this summer during my Algarve tour I am going to be test-driving the ‘Eco Rider’ e-Scooter (an electronic, environmentally friendly scooter).
Eco-riders have arrived in the Algarve and are available for rental or purchase. I have to confess, while I am able to ride a bicycle and I do have a thing for Harley Davidsons, I have never been the driver of a two wheeled motorised vehicle of any kind and am wondering if I will be able to manage to stay balanced.
Help me out here please, I need some tips! Logically, I know it can be done as I see so many other people manage to do it. The other logic is the fact that body movement is what allows me to stay balanced on a non-motorise bicycle, right?
So how does it work that by sitting still on a two wheeled motorised scooter it is possible to be balanced? Is it subtle movement of the steering?
While writing this article I started thinking, people are going to laugh at me, I have never heard anyone ask this question before, so maybe it’s just some phobia I have. Well, I got the brainy idea to search the internet. Lo! I found a number of articles and one is even from ‘The New Scientist’ magazine and would you believe, this is actually something that has also stumped the scientists!
So, I have ascertained from my research (just now) that learning to ride my new eco-scooter will simply take practice and that it’s all in the mind!
I will practice in a field if possible or a car-park if that is all that’s available. I hope I won’t be too daunted by the traffic. I’m bringing my high-visibility vest with me. I will have a helmet too.
If you have any other tips for gaining Eco-Rider scooter confidence do let me know in the comments below.
I will be keep you posted on my Eco Rider escapades in the coming weeks of July and August 2018 (at time of writing I have not arrived in Algarve). The Eco-Rider is a being gifted to me during my stay by its kind distributors. I will have more about their business in the coming weeks and let you know how its going with staying upright on the straight and narrow (:
