The Men in the Tree

3rd October 2017

‘Who are in the men in tree?’ I was asked this question by two of my friends at the end of a busy exhibition opening night at Carlow Library. I was puzzled. They brought me over to the painting to which they were referring, it was ‘Treedom Series 3'!

The beech tree that anchors the site of my home-place, now had pride of place as part of my art collection ‘The Sacred Lives of Trees’.

I stood back and took a look. This particular piece had been cast in a very spontaneous moment of splashing and merging of paint. I had studied this tree many times, watched the sun-light traversing its branches as autumn spun into winter. Treedom 1 and 2 had been more meticulous in my measurement of colours. ‘Treedom 3’ came like an avalanche to the canvas.

"Treedom 3’ came like an avalanche to the canvas."

My friends had been quietly observing the piece from across the room during my opening event. They had counted many faces and bodies of men peering from the branches of the tree. As I took a closer look they began to emerge. In truth, I had not noticed them before.

Do you believe in the spirit world? Is there another realm that we cannot see except in dreams and trances and in creative passage?

I leave you to ponder it all.

Add Colour & Inspiration to Your Life

My art is an expression of stories that awaken dreams and keep them alive. I love vibrant colours and the freedom of allowing imagination to seep through reality.

I invite you to explore my artwork in the interest of feeding your own dreams and keeping them alive. You will find landscapes, trees, scenes from lands such as India and Portugal. You can choose from original paintings in a variety of sizes or a range of prints including some limited editions.

I'm here to help you with your selection, let me know if you need some assistance.

Caroline Cunningham

Through my art and writing I share stories and inspiration for transformation, healing and dreams turning to reality. When you visit my gallery you glimpse my journey, my authentic path. It took a ‘Break True’ moment to point me towards developing my artistic talents. It’s never too late to make a new start. I’ve achieved a lot in a relatively short time. My work has been presented in New York as part of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, has been displayed on county Post Office and has been show-cased on National TV. I contacted Caroline by phone a few days prior to the visit & soon the painting entitled ‘Mind the Gap’ was born. It was well received in New York as was her poem of the same title.
